French ravers attack police as they try to close down NYE party | Evening Standard

Ravers at an underground, curfew-busting New Year’s Eve party that drew at least 2,500 people in western France have attacked the police sent to shut them down.
They torched one of the police vehicles and injured officers with volleys of bottles and stones, officials said.
Ravers aboard hundreds of vehicles started converging on hangars in Lieuron, Brittany, on Thursday night to party into the new year, the regional government said.

Norway landslide: Houses buried in Gjerdrum village near Oslo - BBC News

A landslide in a Norwegian village has buried homes under dark mud, injuring 10 people - one seriously - and leaving a further 10 missing.
Rescue workers are continuing to search for the missing, who include children, in the village of Gjerdrum, 25km (15 miles) north-east of the capital, Oslo.
Around 1,000 people have so far been evacuated from the village.

Syria: dozens killed in Isis bus attack | The Guardian

At least 37 people in Syria have been killed in one of the biggest attacks carried out by Islamic State since the fall of the self-proclaimed caliphate last year.
The assault on Wednesday reportedly targeted a convoy of Syrian regime soldiers and militiamen returning from leave to their posts in Deir ez-Zor province, a mainly desert area on the border with Iraq.

Chow was sentenced to seven months' imprisonment in Dec. 2 after pleading guilty to charges relating to "illegal assembly" linked to protests outside Hong Kong's police headquarters on June 21, 2019.
She was taken after sentencing to the medium-security Lo Wu Correctional Institution near the border with mainland China.
But the Apple Daily cited sources as saying that she has since been transferred to the Tai Lam Women's Correctional Institution, a Category A facility.
