Tens of thousands of defiant protesters marched in the streets of Yangon for a second day almost a week after the military arrested the country's elected leader, Aung San Suu Kyi... The internet remained blocked for most of Sunday after the communications ministry earlier in the week ordered telecom operators to shut down services. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and other popular social media platforms are all unavailable until further notice... The social media block had not stopped people rallying, often communicating with each using old fashioned telephone callout trees.

Al Qaeda's leader in Yemen under arrest, UN report reveals - CNNPolitics

The leader of al Qaeda's affiliate in Yemen has been under arrest for several months, the United Nations disclosed Thursday in a development that may have opened up a goldmine of information for counterterrorism agencies in their campaign against the global al Qaeda network.
According to the UN, the leader of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), Khalid Batarfi, was arrested and his number two, Saad Atef al Awlaqi, died during an "operation in Ghayda City, Al-Mahrah Governorate, in October."

Indian rescuers search for missing after Himalayan glacier bursts | Al Jazeera

Fourteen people are confirmed dead and at least 170 others missing after a part of a Himalayan glacier broke away in India, setting off a torrent of water, rock and dust down a mountain valley, officials said... Most of the missing were people working on the two projects, one of the many the government has been building deep in the mountains of Uttarakhand state as part of a development push.

Chinese star Gao Liu shares photos of 'nightmare' nose surgery - BBC News

Gao Liu is a singer and actress who has starred in multiple films and TV programmes, and has been seen as something of a rising star. But she has fallen out of the limelight in recent months.
Posting on the popular social media platform Sina Weibo, she explained her months-long absence was due to a "cosmetic surgical incident", which has left her with necrosis of the nose, meaning the tissue at its tip has died.

Ford Motor Company is best known for its cars, but in the Covid-19 pandemic, the manufacturer is branching out... The company is currently testing the product and hopes the respirators will be available this spring.
